Why are footrests important?

Think of sitting at a bar stool without a footrest. Even for an adult this is not a comfortable situation. Your baby needs to be properly supported in order to concentrate on the act of eating.

The addition of this footrest to your high chair will allow your little one to sit straighter and stay still longer. This can have a positive impact on eating and fine motor skills development.

The footrest is fully adjustable and will last you from when you first begin your weaning journey until your little one outgrows their high chair.

  • About Me

I am a mom to two year old Joshua, and 9 month old Jonah.

Back when I was a first time mom, I couldn't wait to start the weaning process with Josh and began with puree's when he was 4 months old.

We made the decision to purchase the IKEA Antilop High Chair from Kids Living in GreenPoint. We liked the fact that it was easy to clean, easy to transport, and one of the most affordable options on the market.

Only after some time, when Josh was a little older, I started to question why he would get fidgety and distracted in his High Chair. As moms do, I did a little googling and found a possible reason for our wriggly eater. Professionals recommend a high chair with a footrest. The support allows your little one to fully concentrate on the experience of eating, as well as promote their small motor development.

When I was pregnant with Jonah, I wondered if we were going to have to get a new high chair. That was not an ideal option budget wise. Then one day while scrolling through Tik Tok of all places, a baby-led weaning page I follow posted about the accessories they have for their Anitlop Chair. This included an adjustable footrest!! I went straight back to my friend Google and found with no surprise that I could not find this product available in South Africa. Instead of trying the often unsuccessful task of ordering from overseas, I thought why not make this available to South African moms myself! And after a few months of research, trial and error on samples, here we are! I hope you are as excited to have this accessory available to you as I am!
